Georgie, thanks a bunch!
I think what I will probably end up doing, for now, is disabling the fuel pump all together.
Since these wires are connected to an alarm at the key switch and I run pre-mixed fuel, in theory, there's no need for the wires to be connected.
Thanks again!

Kevin, loved the boatbuildercentral link.
I just couldn't picture in my head how I was going to reglass the outer skin of the transom and the section about using melamine as the backing brought everything back into perspective.
Ryan,
Thanks for the additional footnotes and advice. I agree 100% with everything.
I can't wait to get some additional funds together to start the transom!!!!
I will keep you posted on any progress!
Happy holidays guys

Hi folks, hope everyone is having a good holiday.
I ran a across a good motor, at least I think so, and was wondering what your thoughts are.
It's a 1993 Johnson 200 Ocean Runner. Apparently it was just rebuilt, new tilt and trim and 120+/-compression on all cylinders.
I read that this is a gas hog but a great motor and solid dependable motor. They are asking $2,500 but probably wouldn't pay more than $2000 if I was to get it.
Question, Am I crazy to think i can put a 200 HP on my 19-1 Osprey after transom and stringers are rebuilt? If so, should I make the transom beefier due to the heavier motor?
Thanks guys!

Sorry, but a 200 really is a bit too big.  What is the actual weight of the engine?  Aaron (Aswaff) should have some good feedback for you as he had an oversized engine on his 196 before he rebuilt his flatback.

Two things to consider;
1) Did you raise the height of the floor?  Your feet will be wet.
2) Do you plan to insure the boat?  If so, getting insurance may be a nightmare.

Thank You all.
I did not see the "plate" and I'm not even sure where it's located and if it even exists.
I do see the max hp on the spec sheet above is 125 hp so that certainly answers my question.

Hi folks, it's been a while since I posted and I wanted to give you an update of where I am today and keep the post going as I think questions will come up as soon as I start my rebuild.
It's sad but true, the boat sits as it did the last time I posted.
I started a side business doing handyman/remodeling work in the hopes of getting enough capital together to start workin on my Osprey. The money part is working well as I am ready to start rebuilding transom but the time part is the problem. I have more work than I know what to do with and I have been working 7 days per week for what seems like an eternity.
Weekends are becoming lighter as I get accustomed to the schedule and type of work so, I hope to start on my transom pretty soon!
Hope you all are well!
