seacast and transoms and help
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:15:04 AM »
Anyone used seacast for a transom? Particularly anyone in the Miami area  ? How hard was it to work with it? I am debating whether to do it or have someone redo my transom. If you know of someone that does transoms (no wood) in Miami please let me know.

Thanks

Do a search on here, it's been covered... but yes, I have been told it is easy to work with, and is durable.  There is a version made by Arjay which I have heard is even better.

CUSnooking redid his transom on his 175(?) in a poured approach and seems tickled pink with it.  Maybe he'll pipe up.
He's in the Tampa area but still has some helpful insight. Oh Chuck......

Did the transom in my 73 19'6" four seasons ago. The job is a bit of work but the results are great. You need to clean ALL the wood out. I used the method they show on ther web site, of cutting the cap off the transom then cutting the skin off the back.
This method really lets you do a good job of cleaning the wood out. Do the job right and your transom will be BETTER then new.
