where is the best place to mount the fuse block on a 69 170
« on: November 28, 2010, 03:37:49 AM »
Hello I am restoring a 170 aquasport my title says 1972 but I think it may be pre-69 with a single storage locker on bow deck and gas tank that located in console. Any ideas on where is the best spot to locate the fuse block inside the console? sadly the fuse block was hanging from the wiring that looked like drunk birds nest, any ideas or pic. to help me ?also where is the right spot to mount the fuel filler there is two holes the right size on console right side top of console or right side by steering wheel I dont think pulling filler out of glovebox was the right way? and should the fuel primer bulb be in the glovebox too? A little help please

The '71 I have is the same as what you're describing - single storage up front, fuel tank above sole inside console.  I think we have a member that has a '70 170 or at least thinks it is in that era. I have not seen any sales sheets before '71.

Mine has a liner with rod rack inserts as you can see in the pic above.
One way to tell if yours is a '72 is the aft corners - do they have a notch out for the cleats that are below cap level?  Post some pics of you boat and we'll help ID it. This is a '72.

I put a fuse block up inside the console above the access door in the console - you may or may not have this hole/tray and screwed it into the wood underneath the top of the console.  It was a pain but I had no other spot either.

I have a late '71 or '72.  It does not have a newer HIN, has a single storage bin up front and fuel tank above the sole.  I mounted my fuse panel behind the backrest of my console.  Its a Blue Sea unit with blade type fuse.  Its rather difficult to reach.  But it can be done.  You can see the screws that hold it on in this pic I think.  They are on the port side of the console.

Please post pics of what you have.
