I'm new here too.  I've been searching for an older AS for fishing & knocking around in here in Long Island Sound.  Looking for a 17' Striper I can tow (with care) behind my Cherokee.  That one on eBay in FL looked just right except for being 1600 miles away...

  Have been browsing around the site & looking at the posted pix of some of the restoration jobs some of you have been doing, especially stringer R & R.  Question:  If I find a likely candidate, is there any way of detecting stringer problems or is it a job that just has to be done on account of age, sorta like changing the timing belt after 60K?  Will keep looking and when I get a strike, I'll be posting with a ton of ?'s.

  The AS boats are definate classics; just like old blue whalers and going way, way back to the old wood Lymans and the reverse lapstrake Cuttyhunk bass boats.  They look right and do the job.  My hat off to the originator of this site for this recognition.

I mainly run out of Matagorda.  A buddy of mine owns a bait camp down here so I do business with them.  I plan on making some trip down to Port Aransas this summer though.

Have you ever fished out of Matagorda?

A few time we need to hook up next time i go down. I was going on the trip out of port A this weekend with 2coolfishing.com but I will be going to COBO tonight to get some mr. strip. mar. and will be back on Sunday. I will post pic on general when I get back.

That'll work any time your ready to come down just let me know and I'll see if I can get off work.  I work during the week sometimes, but I'll have weekends off in June.
