Did some work on the 170 yesterday.  I decided to buff and wax the hull sides.  Here is a pic of the hull side after the first pass with the buffer BEFORE wax:

Took her out for a test run in the bay and met up with Blue Agave.   We were over near St Pete airport where a couple of black hawks were practicing hoisting up dummies....  talk about crazy loud:

Here's a bumpy video of running in the bay:

Yeah a little bit....  trying to film with my cell phone while piloting a boat doesn't make for a very steady movie.  I guess I was quickly spoiled by hydraulic steering too!

I've been pecking away at little doo-dads on the 170 the last few days.  Nothing major just making some minor adjustments or repairs that the PO didn't have to proper tools or know how for.  Under the console the batteries were not strapped down right nor was the oil tank.  So I did a Seabob dove head first into that little console to see what was up!  At least I had a couple pf cushions to lay my fat ass on!  Bob i have new found respect for you man!  I only had my head in there for a few hours and I had to eat some Advil!  I managed to get things secured properly for now.  Here's a video:

Bruce, oh the fun I could have in there!  And thank you for the compliment!  No, it's not easy, and you pace yourself.  But once you start, it's hard to tear yourself away from continuing on...

Since you're going with the new switch/breaker panel, I'd recommend the Blue Seas fuse block/ground bus I use a lot for devices not controlled, not protected by the switch panel.  Or you can use the plain fuse block with a separate ground bus, but I'd go with the combination... http://shop.genuinedealz.com/Items/5025 ... ound%20Bus

Ha ha Scott I was going for a Seabob sound to the video!  LOL

The ribs were ridiculous Fernando!  We have a nice little BBQ place near my work on 49th st.  It's a father son place.  I was in there last week for a late lunch and I asked them how they knew how much Q to smoke before each day.  I have seen them run out of ribs several times and I was wondering if that happened often.  He said they are still trying to figure out the daily demands and every now and then they end up with several racks of ribs left over at the end of the day.  Turns out they have a list of people they call if they have any left over full racks of ribs and they sell them at a discounted price.  So of course I asked to be put on the list!  Today he called me up so I picked one up around 2:00.  I was nice and hot and triple wrapped in foil.  I wrapped it up in my mylar windshield sun shade.  When I made it home after work I grabbed the rack and they were still hot!    Man those things were still cooking in my truck for three more hours!  Super tender!

Thanks for the vote of confidence bro...but those local boys would be a hard market to crack. They're used to each other, deal with each other...and sometimes actually like each other. But an outsider....open season

Well, I set out to find the source of the water making it's way into the bilge today.  I had my garden hose and my spot light.  I figured short of a hole in the hull it could only be coming from the garboard drain, hole in the deck, or a thru hole.  the garboard looked solid so I turned my attention to a thru hull.  The boat only has two and I just replaced the bilge pump thru hull so that left the fish box drain.  The boat came with a plug in the fish box thru hull so I decided to fill the fish box with water and see what happened.  The water was not draining out of the box nor was any showing up in the bilge.  So I figured the drain hose was OK.  This pic of the inside of the thru hull looked good:

So I climbed out of the boat and pulled the plug... nothing... no water.  Huh? Well.... there was some leaves in there so maybe it's plugged up.  So I stuck my garden hose into the thru hull to try and back flush it.  Nothing... so I tried again... nothing still plugged... wait there is no water coming back out of the thru hull.  OH CRAP!?!  Where s the water going?..  yup into the bilge...  I pulled the pie plate located in the starboard storage locker to get a look at the hose connection on fish box drain...  looky what I found!

Yup the darn hose is disconnected from the fish box drain and is just laying in the bilge!  So if that plug had come out of the thu-hull the boat would have sunk!

Here's some pics of the fish box drain fitting.  It looks like it it plugged up really good.  Also is this a shower drain with a check valve in it or something?
