if its the law then i see FWC officers breaking that law all the time, i dont know anyone thats been stopped for not strapping down, hell we've never been stopped for being 10'2" wide?!

Having a strap on the back is the law I think - I don't do it on my 230 either.

I'm selling my 2002 Dakota SLT, 4x4, towing gear/tow package, 4.7 V8, etc. etc. It's just not enough to pull my 245 Explorer. My neighbor is selling me his lightly used (88,000 miles) 1998 F250 Lariat with air shocks. Should pull like a dream now. On a related note, do you guys think I should tie down the back of the boat to the trailer? The thing's so darn heavy, I doubt it moves much but you never know...

Chris it's not so much about it moving while you are driving as much as its about if and when people get in wrecks and their boat either comes off the side or rolls over all together and even if no-one gets hurt you still have a big a$$ mess to clean-up and down here in the Keys with one road....

Get in an accident and you will wish you had the strps on.  Ikve seen too many boats come off trailers in very minor accidents.  Steaps would have kept them on with much less boat damage.

I had problems pulling my Explorer 225 out up a crappy muddy ramp in Fernandina with my Silverado 1500.  I had to get a buddy to hook his F150 up to the front of my truck to pull it out. It was embarrassing. Even though the troubles were mostly due to the muddy ramp, It was still enough to put me in a market for a 2500. Until then a Wiggins Bull Forklift hulls the boat out of the water.

Once you find her tackle that same ramp again while it's in the same condition as before and see the difference.  Was your 1500 4x4?
