Thru-hulls
« on: December 29, 2010, 10:12:16 AM »
I would like to replace the plastic thru-hulls on my 99' Aquasport 215 DC.  Does anyone know the sizes and shapes so I can order them and have the parts ready when its time to replace them.

Generally, these are the sizes...
Bilge pump discharge, 1 1/8" Barb
Sink and tub drains, 3/4" Barb
Fishbox and livewell drains, 1 1/2" Barb
Cockpit Drains/Scuppers. 1 1/2" Barb
Macerator Discharge, 1" Barb

If you're going to simply replace like with like (white nylon), iboats has some good prices.  If you're thinking about the newer SS capped acetyl resin ones, well, I have quite a few I took off a Proline hull replacement a couple of years ago that are about brand new.  They look like this...

Thanks again for you help Bob, you are a god send when it comes to advice and info on boats and I appreciate it.  I'm attaching a picture of an identical boat to mine, my boat is still under shrinkwrap so no pictures of mine till spring.  I circled the thru-hull I want to replace, its dry and pitted.  Looking at it from the outside of the hull it looks like it has a bend to it.

Bob, what about the fuel overflow?  Not exactly the same type of thru-hull, but mine needs to be replaced. Must've hit it with something.

Mike,
What, your Fuel vent fitting?  5/8" barb.  I do have a spare, need to clean it up though...

Bob, thanks for the heads up on the thru-hulls, and your input on the outlet sizes.

OK, Lewis needs an 1 1/2" straight, Scott needs an 1 1/2" straight and a 3/4" straight, and it looks like Mulv80 needs an 1 1/2" 90.  So, The Kid, let me see what that leaves me, and I'll let you know via PM.  Cool?

And Mike, let me see if I can clean up the SS vent fitting I have...

I'm a busy boy today...

Bob,
Yes, I did.  Unfortunately, I only have (2) that are 1".  Now, if you are using the cheaper ribbed bilge pump hose with the smooth clamping collars every foot, you'll be able to tighten down #16 hose clamps and that hose will work with the 1" barbs.  If you are using the heavy wall smooth bore hose, you can't compress the hose down enough to where it won't leak.

Let me know what you've got.  If so, the (2) 1" barbed t/hulls are yours...

No Bob,
I'm using the heavy walled hose. I would need the 1-1/8.

Maybe next time.

CB,
Just bought Stalon 1 1/8" t/hulls for the Doc's Talon at a pretty damn good price.  Let me see if I can find...
