Console makeover
« on: April 30, 2009, 07:06:50 PM »
Well finally decided that my boat deserved a better looking console.
That's when I first got the boat

Two weeks later, it was a quick fix, but thought it looked much better. Didn't do much on her, clean up, Plexiglas on top(to cover all the holes) and under the steering, fish finder, compass, painted the wood black( didn't know it was teak, DOH)

Filling holes and making new ones <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

Just received my new gauges today, RPM should arrived soon, gold bezel baby <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

More to come

Man that looks great! I like the gold bling and your finish looks slick. Is that the gelcoat or is it the primer?

It's actually a few very thin coat of lacquer sanded with 1000 grit , didn't want it to be to shiny

Thanks, Marc..

Well, decided to go the kiwiGrip route for my deck, Fiberglassservices.com only ships via UPSsucks and didn't feel like paying hidden fees like I did for my trim lock molding  <!-- s:evil: --><!-- s:evil: --> Imagine that, molding $53+shippingUPS $48+ hidden fee $46  <!-- s:shock: --><!-- s:shock: --> $147 for friggen molding  <!-- s:shock: --><!-- s:shock: --> And of course they expect you to stay home all day waiting for your package  <!-- s:roll: --><!-- s:roll: --> end up driving 50 minutes to pic it up, never again

Anyways, willy from  Pachena and his product rocks  <!-- s:salut: -->:salut:<!-- s:salut: --> Send him an email on a Sunday for some info and got an answer the same day, don't see that to often.
Ordered one gallon of  cream colored kiwigrip, man that stuff covers a lot, my deck is done and I still have half of it left, will probably use half of that for the gunwale. It was also very easy to apply, taping was not. But it all went well.

That's too bad that it's so hard to get stuff through via UPS.
Looks like you took your time and did a great job of taping - the end result came out looking very professional - nice water run lines :thumleft:  :thumright:

So why did you mount the grab bars on the floor?

Just kidding

Yeah, taping was a pain in the neck, had to do it 3 times, two for the paint and one for the KiwiGrip, but I'm really glad with the result

Looks great!

I tell you - Kiwigrip is the STUFF.  I highly recommend, and it goes right over gelcoat for a quick non-skid update.

Plus, that stuff is nontoxic which is nice, was able to do all the removable parts inside the house when it was to cold outside

marq, In the first picture, you have a twist and lock hatch plate.  I have the same on my 25CCP and I'm trying to find a replacement.  There is no manufacturer information on it, but yours look exactly like mine.  Do you know what brand they are?

Thanx
