1996 Aquasport Explorer - Dual Battery - Blue Sea System
« on: May 10, 2014, 09:50:17 PM »
I decided to add a 2nd battery to my 1996 Aquasport Explorer, did some research and found this kit:

Here is how it use to look:

1st Step move the wire harness back to the corner, there is room in the loom to push the wires back:

2nd Get two battery trays and then mount the batteries in them like this:

Here is another view:

... I will write up the next steps as I do them next week.

Thats interesting.  I just finished installing a Blue Seas add-a-battery mini system on my Explorer.  A few other memebers have also picked up the mini ACR system.  So far mine worked great today.  Just turn on the main switch and the ACR manages the charging for you.  It also keeps your house and starting batts isolated so when you start you engine after sitting for most of the day you do not get a voltage drop or surge.  Today I watched my GPS voltage when I started the boat after sitting at anchor for a while.  It stayed right at 12.6 volts... didn't drop a tenth while cranking the motor.  COOL!  :thumright:

Man I wish I had that kind of room where my batteries are
I can barely get two batteries in side-by-side and have to use a shoe horn the get them in.
Looks good - you'll like the ACR function.
