wiring diagrams

Recently purchased a 2000 205 osprey, tournement edition. Wondering if there is or was a wiring diagram for this model. Hardly anything elecrical is working. Plus a bunch of splicing has gone on thru the years.

Welcome aboard! Not sure if any official wiring diagrams exist anymore. There are members here who might have something to help. Sometimes it is easier to rip everything out and just start from scratch.

Thanks, your right. I'm not the greatest with 12V wiring. But I'll start with one problem at a time. Decided to start with bilge pump first. Poor access to the bilge area doesn't help. But I'm retired, so got plenty of time on my hands.

And hope you're still agile too...

First suggestion.  Look under the helm, you'll see a 6GA red wire that is your helm panel feed.  In that wire, you'll see a large blue connector.  Cut that out and butt splice the 2 leads with an 8GA butt.  That will save you a lot of headaches down the road... :thumright:

Thanks much. Need all the help I can get. Spent 2 hours today trying to figure out why what was done. Had the GPS, for some reason  spliced into trim gage for power, then the radio, which isn't working, spliced into a group of four reds for power. Haven't figured out what that also supplies.

Not sure if this will help at all, but this came from my Aquasport Owner's Manual, and applies to all models.  Of course, if the previous owner modified things, the colors may no longer apply.

Good luck!

My recommendation would be to first remove all the positive leads and grounds that appear to have been added in...get them out of the way and try to get the helm wiring back to it's original setup.  Then I would install a new Blue Seas 6-gang fuse block and a new Blue Seas 250A common ground bus bar (or you can get the 6-gang block with the built in ground bus, just a few bucks more).  You can pull power for the block off the closest breaker on the helm switch panel, the ground from the existing ground bus.  Toss that old bus bar in the trash.  genuinedealz (http://www.genuinedealz.com/) has good prices on both, you can probably find them cheaper, but there's no shipping and you get the stuff quick...

Just trying to help out a little, Walt.  Thank you for the compliment...

I forgot to mention in my earlier post, power your electronics and stereo from the fuse block.  However, the stereo memory lead (yellow) will have to go either straight to the battery or, if you have a battery switch, to either batt 1 or batt 2 post on the switch.  Fuse that with a 10A in-line.  Wire the bilge pump float switch constant hot the same way, if it is not wired that way already.

I spent six hours today working in the bilge area. Pulling wire after wire, I found six ground wires, most double connected. Three loose wires to nowhere, one was a red wire the other black. Basically traced everything back to the wiring harness as it came into the compartment near the battery area. I plan on now cutting it all out, and rewiring,  putting a grounded bus bar, then working from there. The worse part is the limited space in the area. Then onto a few problems at the console. Thanks for the help, the fuse and breaker chart will be a big help.
