Bruce, glad you found the problem. Agree, get the old one out, the one Pete has is sweet.

Pete, I believe a sink drain is what is in my boat now so your suggestion is spot on.  I don't think it is an issue with your 225 but based on Fernando's input these drains are barely above the water line.  So with a couple of people up front water may come up into the fish box.  Again I haven't had the boat long enough to know if that is the case with the 170 or not but I think it is.  I hope to try and get that thing off of there after work today.

Well after I came home for work tonight I decided to see if I could get the 90 degree elbow fitting off the fish box drain.  I stuck a screw driver into the barb and tried to unscrew it.  Of course the entire drain turned.  There was no real way to hold the drain from tuning. So I introduced the drain to Mr. Die grinder and his buddy carbide bit!  Working from the top of the drain I worked my way around cutting into the drain until I saw the back side of the threads.  Luckily the drain was brass so the carbide bit mad quick work of it.  The I just reached in and snapped off the fitting...  and here is the result:

I went to Worst and of course they didn't have what I needed.  They had the brand Pete suggested but only the short threaded type which wont work.

Well the fishbox drain is fixed.  Turns out finding a 1" 90 degree drain locally with enough threads was tricky.  I ended up having to order this thru hull fitting:

After fishing out the hose and bedding in the drain here is the end result:

Good job :salut:
Investigating, finally finding the disconnected hose, finding the plugged fitting and then figurimg out a way to get it out, locating and installing the new one and re-connecting the drain hose...  All takes time  :thumleft:

Yeah and almost getting your arm stuck in a 4" pie plate hole is fun!  I also managed to do it without dropping anything in the bilge too!

Ok I took the 170 out today to see if the fish box drain repair stopped the water intrusion into the hull.  I checked the fish box with two people up on the casting deck and there was no water coming up into the box. All looked good. I went back to the ramp pulled the plug..... And there was still water darn it!   There has to be a hole in the rigging trough that I can't see or something.

Nice job on the install bro, check to see if the bilge pump thru hull gets near the water when there is more weight in the stern,I've had that happen to me in an 18 footer, every time the thru hull went under a little water would come in thru the bilge pump.

I replaced the bilge pump thru hull.  It's very high up on the starboard aft side.  If it is under water I'll get a bunch of water in the bilge cause the transom will be underwater!

I feel there has to be something going on under that rigging trough cover.  I'll  just have to pop it off and see what is going on under there.  I want to pull those screws and seal them anyways.
