Seeking 72' 196 Market value for upcoming sale
« on: April 18, 2020, 12:20:30 PM »
Hi All,

My wife and I are moving to a bigger boat to accommodate our family of 5.  We will unfortunately be selling our 1972 Aquasport 196.  I wanted to reach out to this community for help on figuring out the fair market value.  Here is a link to a previous post where we chronicled part two of the restore.  Part 1 of the restore closed in the transom with a deck cap.  Part 2 re glassed the stringers and replaced the deck with composite core.  Here is a link:  http://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=5649.30

We have since added cushions to the console seat, canvas covers for anchor rope bin and console storage access and added a hybrid bimini for shade in the front.  Boat has a single axle aluminum trailer and on board dual bank battery charger.  T-top canvas was replaced last year.  Power is a 115

Here are some current pictures:

Console now has a Garmin Echomap Plus 74Cv  and new Ritchie F-82W Voyager Compass.  Engine cowling is getting a new paint job and decals next week.

Can you please let me know what you think I should be able to get for this boat?  If this is the wrong place to ask this question then I'm sorry.

Thanks,
Pete

I think the boat looks great.  Does it come with trailer? If so, price the trailer value.
4 stroke motor - you can find the NADA value on that.
The boat is all about "what someone will pay for it" - you know what you have into it plus labor value. Mark it up what you think it's worth.

Agree with Rickk ^^^....market value implies what the market will pay.  Your best bet for determining a competitive listing price is to conduct a state-wide search for your model/year hulls that are for sale.  Craigslist is a good source to use.  The pickings will be slim, so likely you'll need to include searches for hull year +/- 5 years.  You never know what the market will pay for these rigs, so always best to start with a higher listing price and include "OBO".  Decrease the price bi-monthly until you start getting a consistent number of interested parties.  Great looking rig.  Good luck!!

If you haven’t posted it for sale or sold it already, please let me know where you are going to list it when you do.

Great looking boat!

I just helped a friend sell a similar Mako 21 for $14k, and his had an older Johnson 2S on the back.

Based on that, I would guess $18k, depending on location, but you are best to search online to see what's out there.   That will tell you market value.

Your boat looks very clean, and looks sell, so it may surprise you!  Boats are running high in the mid-Atlantic area right now.   I've sold two project boats in May because of offers I couldn't refuse.   Then I searched and saw what they are selling for, and am kicking myself.   But I'm happy to have them gone, and they got a great deal, so all is well.

Best wishes for a quick, full value sale.
