Flatback Tunnel, Huh?!?
« on: October 08, 2017, 03:07:20 PM »
This AS for sale caught my attention because of its listing title...Restored 22-2 Flatback with tunnel, restored from stringers up.  Wild guess here....AS has never produced a tunnel hull, let alone a flatback tunnel hull.  Am I wrong?

Yup never had a tunnel model but doesn't mean someone didn't modify theirs and add one.  Has the prow of an AS FB - the cap looks a little different.

Out of curiosity I emailed the owner who has the boat up for sale.  He says the previous owner was the head designer of Sea Hunt boats and it was him whom altered the hull into a tunnel.  Interesting. I wonder how much of the original AS 22-2 hull design was left intact.
