Sling / Slip .. how to?
« on: March 31, 2017, 12:03:59 PM »

After almost a year of waiting, I finally got a slip in the Matagorda harbour on the Texas Instracoastal. It's a roofed slip with lift slings. However - I have no idea (and didn't find a DIY video) that explains the do's and dont's in regard to getting the boat in and out the slings. For one thing - I suppose I have to back-in the boat because I wouldn't be able to get to the drain plug otherwise?

Any other things to take care of?

install one of these, that way you can remove the plug from inside the boat on the lift https://www.amazon.com/Perko-0266DP0PLB-Garboard-Drain-Plug/dp/B002IV4ZF0 i have one on my flat back and actually have it mounted behind a scoop so in the event of a bilge pump failure it can be removed and will suck water out

Interesting idea.  Thanks. Any other advise for a first time sling user?
