I have a 1995 225 explorer and I’m looking at re powering with a 2004 250 yamaha hpdi.Is this a good or bad engine?

Yamahas have a good reputation - I still have the original '91 250 76 degree Yammy on my Explorer and it runs great. (knocking on wood)

What is your current power? HPDI is supposed to be a good engine but like other DI motors they were not without some teething issues. I'd do some research into what years were the good ones and if there were any service bulletins etc.

If your current engine is an OMC with a system check and mws wire harness an Etec is a direct plug in.

It had a 95 225 ocean runner
