Shopping a 205 Reviews from owners wanted
« on: October 16, 2016, 05:36:25 PM »
I joined after reading lots of posts to find out more about the AquaSport boats. After seeing a bunch on the lifts and bay that seem to be holding up really well.

I am looking at a possible 2003 205 purchase. Original 175 Johnson carb motor. Looking to move into a better and bigger boat from our 17 brand to remain nameless that has served us well but just too small to be comfortable when the wind starts to kick up on the bay plus a little more room for family for the pleasure days. We would like to buy a 4-6 year old boat at half the price of new, but since that looks like it doesn't exist in today's market.

If you guys can offer me your experiences or a suggestion on another model you have owned and like more I am open to suggestions.

What should I look for as possible repair needs you have done or possible warnings. To be PC if you have something negative that shouldn't be shared in public please PM me.

I made the  move from a 17 Mako (new) that I had kept 8 years. Then I wanted more days out front. I got the 205 with the same 175 carb motor and been great . Not to say its perfect
Pro's a deep cockpit, can get into 3' when you need , I like the euro transom
Con's access to systems is limited  fishbox drains (defective design)

I'm not sure if this applies to the 205, but the big Osprey and Explorer do a mod to gain access to the fishbox drains and center aft bilge.  Like many new boat builders somethings are preassembled before the hull and cap are joined.  Making later access a pain.

I had a Searay jet boat that some of the seat attach hardware was virtually impossible to get to.
