175 Osprey w/115 Etech

Is a 175 Osprey with a 115 Evinrude etech still self-bailing with that much weight on the back and also does water come over the transom when you suddenly stop?

I have a 90 etec with a jack plate on the back of my 170.  The weights should be similar.  It is not self bailing.  But I have not had water over the transom when coming off a plane.  Most of the 170's are not self bailing at this point.  The foam tends to absorb water and make the boat heavier.  Also we are  putting bigger, heavier engines on these boats beyond what they were originally designed for.  Having said that your boat should be a rocket ship with a 115 on the back!

subscribed.... ive got a Suzuki DF 140 4stroke in the works to go on the back of my 175 to replace the 88SPl on there now. should be a little over 100lbs heavier. im also going to be installing a CMC jack plate which is another 30lbs or so as well has another 5" of setback.

im going to see what its like but ive already been kicking around the idea of adding a weight offset flotation box to attach to the transom.

I test drove the boat and bought it. It is a 50 mph missle. It is not self bailing unfortunately as the motor weight pushes it down a little too far. I did not get a chance to tie it up and see if it would self bail without me onboard. I will do that soon and post pictures for your enjoyment. Ia m taking my leaning post out of my 17 Mako and swaping the cooler bench seat out of the Aquasport.

Lots of things to fix but the transom passed the rubber mallot test and there are no soft spots in the deck. Think I got a good deal for a 97 hull with a 2012 etec and alum trailer. Only 46 hours on the motor.

you have any pics of it in the water? im anxious to see how low it sits. also you have me worried if that 115 pushes it 50, my 140 oughta be outright scarey.  :shocked:
