« on: April 25, 2020, 08:06:10 PM »
I have a 95 225 explorer with a 225 yamaha pushing it, hoping someone else has this setup so i can get their performance numbers. I dont think my boats running quite the way it should, thanks!

Find the spec rpm range at WOT for your model/year engine.  Then compare your rpms at WOT.  You should be at or near top end of range.

Cant check rpms, dont have a working gauge, just received a mew gauge and cant get it to work properly so until i find that out i wont really know what it is... thinking maybe a mix of fuel delivery issues and prop size.

Rpms are the most valuable non-diagnostic metric when assessing engine performance.  Evaluating prop pitch cannot possibly be done correctly w/o knowing rpms. Getting your new rpm gauge working should be your priority #1.

Yeah you can't just buy any Yammy gauge - I had the same problem when I bought one.

How do i know what will work... i honestly dont even care about the trim sensor bc i can visually see and know where my trim is at, but i hope the oil pressure and overheating sensors are working on the gauge. Any way to know? When i hooked it up and turned the key switch, they blink once or twice and go away, does that mean that its reading right, or not at all.

I would google for an owners/service manual for the motor and  look in the owners manual for the engine and it should tell you the model gauges to use. I bought mine from a surplus place and had to return it because it wasn't compatible.
