Title: repair advice or parts
Post by: MrsKoyote on June 14, 2018, 05:28:11 PM
Needing advice- I have a 215 Osprey Sport DC- Tournament series- and my fish boxes and ski box lids are falling apart. I need repair ideas or replacement parts. I am also hunting down the drain plugs for the fishboxes and the Livewell. Mine have shrunk? Any help would be amazing Thanks  :tu:

You should be able to recore the lids. Post up some pics of what you're running into.

The repair is pretty strait forward.  You need to cut, grind or pry the old core out.  Then grind the underside of the hatch back to clean glass.  Cut a new core.  Lot’s of core options, marine plywood, divinycel, Coosa, and other composites depending on what’s locally available.  Glue the core in with thickened resin, again, you have choices from polyester, vinylester to epoxy.  All will work.  Use weights to keep things flat while the core bond cures.  Then glass the underside of the core.  There are some subtleties, but that’s the basic process.

^^ X2 - get a cheap 4" angle grinder from Harbor freight and a 24 or 36 grit flap sanding wheel and a cutting wheel. With the cutting wheel carefully cut the perimeter all the way around the current coring - keep the wheel angled toward the core so you don't cut through the lids.  Then a pry bar will pop the core off.  Then switch to the sanding wheel and go to town sanding where the core was and around the perimeter.  Follow the directions above to replace coring.
It's really not a big process.
