REBUILD COST
« on: December 10, 2005, 12:00:06 PM »
Pretty interesting info for all you rebuild guys. Thought I should post. I still need to put some paint on the boat, a motor, tower, and all the controls+steering. controls & steering are on there way $4,000 dual station ke4 controls and seastar steering. WAS NOT ADDED TO BOTTOM NUMBER YET.

Remember this is every dollar spent since I got the boat. Some items were sold off the original boat. Total of about $1,200 this number has not been subtracted from total.

For all of you about to rebuild, the structural list I added is vary helpful. That is exactly the supplies I needed for total rebuild: stringers, deck, full transom with enclosure, and front casting deck.

Im with you on this one but what model is yoru boat.  I kinda can break it down to you but not that detailed.  Mine is for a 246ccp that is equivalent to a modern day measurement of about a 29-30' boat with the bracket on it.  I have alot more space than any 28' boat I have been on.

Boat $5500 (purchased not as a project, it was running but blew my motor and became a project)
New Trailer $2400
Totaled trailer refund -$5800 (got lucky on this one)
Another new Trailer 2 weeks later $2100(no tax this time)
Durabak deck liner $150
D&D bracket $1500
paint job including special paint for bracket and all prep work $2750
new motors ~$20k with rigging
Used radar/chartplotter/GPS/depthfinder (two linked units)$400
total cost of my boat when complete is
$29,000

If I bought a new boat to take this ones place it would be in excess of 70k rigged out for a cheap one.  This old one I have could be tagged with a 20lb sledge and not have a hold in the hull.

James - do you have anymore pics of the progress?  I enjoyed watching the progress but everything seemed to stop in Apr.

Hey Captain, with the detailed steps he's documenting can you allow him some more space so we don't lose anything?  It's for the good of .... =8^D

and that didn't include digging under the floor, inspecting and replacing foam and new floor decking?
