Super...thanks for your help Bob.

I guess the key to keeping the insert from popping out near the pulpit is to avoid stretching it when installing it, right?

Bob,

I just measured my insert - right around 52'.  Looks like I'll need the 70' version (I assume it only comes in 50' or 70' lengths).  Please let Dennis know so that he prices the right insert.

Thanks,

Craig

Will do Craig.  He'll probably get back with me on Monday...

BTW, have you called MCL over in Ft. Pierce?  http://www.themarineconnection.net/  Good chance they have some rolls...

Marc, Pete, seen any in the gray?

Man, I had convinced myself that I wanted white.  Now you've got me thinking about gray again.  I watched a Youtube video of the installation of a white on white rubrail on an older seacraft.  I thought it looked pretty classy.  I imagine you've seen both colors.  If it was you, what would you go with?

You've got the same boat as my brother, about the same year too.  His has the problem much worse than me.  At least a foot on both sides.  Mine is only about 4 or 5 inches on each side.  Not terrible, but annoying none the less.

I still do have a contact at Taco, but they are not making the gray insert anymore.  So it's white or black if you want to replace...
I would like to do the black insert.
Can you hook me up with your guy Bob?

Thanks Bryan

Rope an option?  My last boat had a rope rub rail insert that I actually really liked the look of (can't speak to its function vs rubber/plastic/vinyl).

I don't think you can use a rope insert in the existing rub rail.  It is designed to  accept the Taco rubber insert.  I am sure you can replace the whole rub rail system with one that uses rope.  The is a link to a supplier of this type of rub rail in the vendor section.q

Ryan,
Rope inserts (BTW, I love the look!) are meant to go into extrusions that accept round inserts.  Rope won't work with Craig's extrusion...
