Scuppers come out the side on mine. My feet stay dry if I'm the only one back there.
Sorry about the crappy photo, photo of a picture taken many years ago, lots changed since then...including more grey hair.

Scuppers on my 79 FFV are exactly like Bondobill's.

They are completely out of the water when no one is in the boat. And fill up if I am in the back on one side.

I would guess they are 4-5" below the drain on the deck. So raising the outlet a few inches could improve things a bit.
