True Tracker Stablizer Plate
« on: September 18, 2017, 02:08:26 PM »
Anyone use a True Tracker Stabilizer Plate by Bob Machine Shop? I have at 17’ with a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke, four blade prop (not sure of the pitch). The boat jumps on plane, but I cannot trim up the motor or go over 4500 RPMs without getting noticeable “proposing.”
I got a standard load of 2 ppl, 35 gal leanpost live-well, 4 batteries under the console and 27 gallons of fuel; pretty stern heavy for a 17’ boat.

Would you expect the stabilizer plate to help with proposing or be a noticeable difference? Any pros and cons? I am hoping this could be a good alternative to installing trim tabs.

Well if your engine is rigged at the proper height the cav plate should be out of the water, so that plate won't help much. Also any lift at the center makes the boat unstable in roll. (Think teeter totter). Your stern heavy trim tabs or moving weight forward is your only option. (Besides going back to a two stroke)
