Recore cap
« on: December 15, 2016, 06:00:14 PM »
Anybody have any suggestions for recoring the cap in a '72 22-2 from the top?  I saw pics of it done in one thread, but just wondering if anyone else has done it and has any tips?

I don't have an experience recoring a cap from the top, but I have removed the cap from my 200 CCP.  I'm surprised that the cap is not fully cored.  It just has pieces of core, often rectangles that don't join together.  So if I were recoring from the top, I'd just think about putting core where I needed it for cleats, outrigger etc.

Yeah, just the front part is cored (also backers glassed in where the bowrail mounts).  It's really soft now.  I need to recore the front part, patch a bunch of holes, and want to do non-skid on the front, so I'd figure going in from the top will be a lot easier that pulling the whole thing off.
