Sanding is my life.  I love it. :weehee:

Not much to see in the pictures, but I've put in a few good days.  I have glass laminations on the sheer feathered in to the cap and hull.  All the old paint is sanded off the hull sides and cap with everything down to clean gel coat or glass. Plus, the new glass in the sheer is sanded to a point where the threads and most of the shiny spots are gone.

I also did a quick test.  The bottom of the hull between the chines is painted black.  I don't believe that it is bottom paint, but I want it gone.  I applied some left over water based paint striper.  After it sat for 3 hours, a presser washer knocked most of the old paint off.  Hopefully I can save some prep time on the hull bottom.

Your boat is looking good man - keep on her. (And I hate sanding now after a few years of it)

Yeah,  I kind of despise it too.  Just trying to stay motivated.  I do like the results, though.

I got the first wipe of fairing blend on the transom cap, and got it sanded down smooth.  I need to play with my ratio of microballoons, silica and resin a bit.  My sander tended to grab and chatter more than i'd like.  I think I need more balloons.

What sander you using??

For this job a Bosch dual mode 6” sander on the setting for fast stock removal.  It tended to grab. I also used a 7” Makita polisher/sander with a flat hook and loop backing pad on low speed.  The 7” rotary worked well, but the 6” RO wanted to grab.

I would add that either work well when sanding FRP.  It’s just this fairing mix.

Keep at it, it'll be done soon.  Are you painting or gelcoating the inside? (you probably already told us 5 times)

On breaks between sanding, I got started on rebuilding the coffin box.  It's lined with 2" urethane foam with 2lb pour foam filling out and forming the radius for the fillets in the corners.  I'll be away from the boat for a few days, but when I'm back, I'll glass the interior, build as mold for the lid and build out mating lips on the lid & box - in between sanding, of course.

I also glued in glass backing blocks for the hinges, latches and the screws to secure the box to the sole.

I just picked up a new set of wheels for the old girl, torsion axels, Kodiak brakes all stainless hardware and LCD lighting.  I'm not sure if it only comes with the premium option package, but I was surprised that all the wire connections used adhesive lined heat shrink.

Just for comparison, here's the trailer I brought her home with.  I got the rig from Daytona to Orlando, put the boat on stands.  Then one of the wheels fell off as I pushed the trailer out of the way.
