Accessing Bilge Pump 01 Aquasport Osprey 250??
« on: July 21, 2015, 07:48:43 PM »
So my float switch is not activating the bilge pump. Pump works fine when manually turned on at the helm so my guess is the float is FUBAR. Question is, how the heck do I reach the pump. I tried through the little transom door where the oil tanks are, nada. I tried through the transom door where the batteries are under the tackle box locker. If I were about 8' tall with arms to match I MAYBE could have reached, but my 6' frame and arms won't do it. I'm guessing a new opening somewhere is the way home, am I correct?

TY,
I'm on the road and do not have my laptop however, there is a thread showing the installation of an access plate installed in the fishbox. This has been the basic remedy for your problem.
I can't do much from my phone to get you the link. Hopefully someone else will.
Search under "Osprey bilge pump access". You should find it. It was posted by a long time member named Pete.

Good luck.

I just replaced my fuel tank.  Cut a deck plate hole in the fuel tank coffin for easy access.  I know it's a pain to pull up the coffin deck, but the bilge pump is now very easy to install.   I'm thinking the pump should last several years and by then I'll want to inspect the tank anyway.

The only way you can really reach it is by cutting in a pie plate (deck plate) in the aft vertical wall of the fish box.  I did this on my 245 Explorer (same hull as your Osprey)
