Agree with Jesse - I would not have a fishing boat without a trolling motor. It is essential in shallow water, but is also helpful in deeper water, especially the newer models with GPS features. I can put the boat over some structure, hit the hold/anchor button, and the trolling motor will hold the boat in place. Obviously you need a pretty powerful 24 or 36 volt trolling motor for a 22 foot boat, but my MinnKota seems to work fine. I have a removable mount but almost never take the motor off - also like Jesse said - with a good trolling motor, you have a 2.5 HP kicker on the bow just in case...
