Welcome!!  My suggestion is to start a new topic.  Ask specific questions as to what, exactly you would like to know.

Good luck

I run a 1986 CCP with a 225 Suzuki 2 stroke.  It really moves.

CajunSportsman,

I push my 1983 222 CCP with the same motor. When everything is working right my top speed is around 42 mph. That's fast enough for me! My boat has a T-Top with plexiglass in front, this provides alot of wind resistance and I am sure it slows me down, but it sure helps when I am running the beach of South Jersey searching for stripers in November!

Do you know what your top speed is?

How do you like your motor and have you had any problems with it?

My Suzuki is a 1999 model. The powerhead blew two months after the warranty expired! :x  The good news was my dealer contacted Suzuki and they honored the warranty and installed a new powerhead at NO CHARGE! :D

I have spun two prop hubs, and feel the throttle is too sensitive at the low end.  Otherwise I am very happy with the motor and hope to get extended service out of it with the new power head.

Right now the motor is hanging from a large walnut tree in my back yard as I am rebuilding my transom!

Defiant:

Mine is a 2004 model and with two people and limited gear, we've gotten 52mph.  With gear/ice/fish, we'll do 45mph max (no t-top, just plexi windshield).  We're planning to add Lenco trollin' Tabs to plane her out a little better in seas and add trolling ability.  I'd imagine a t-top will cut 4-5 off our top end and we have plans to add it in the next year or so.  Anyway, needeless to say with gas prices like they are, we aren't running wide open too much anyway. :D

defiant, I have an 87' 222ccp, just repowered w/new 250 yami, have reached 51mph wot, AND, when the guys I bought the motor from selected prop size they had nothing comparable to refer to so basically guessed at the size. I was told by my mechanic that ideally I should spin 5500-6000 rpms, at 51 mph, I was spinning at 5100rpm wot, so if I was propped correctly, I would guess my wot to be 54-57 mph. By the way, bought leftover 2002' efi yamaha 250hp, love it.

ddd222,

WOW!!! That is moving!

How does the stern of your boat sit in the water with the extra weight of the 250 4 stroker? I understand they are ao the heavy side. But quiet and better on fuel than a 2 stroke.

On my last trip of the season my motor was making some nasty noises! I keep telling myself "It's nothing major" but you never know! I'll take it to the mechanic in February after I recover from the Holiday expenses.

I hope I do not need to repower for a long time!

defiant, i repowered w/ a leftover 2002 efi 2 stroke, which is give or take 475lbs,, and within 5 lbs of the old motor, the 4 strokes and hpdi's of the same class were 560-580 lbs, last of the OX66's, love it
