!982 200 CCP stringers
« on: December 20, 2007, 11:56:49 AM »
After performing transom surgery I decided deck was in order. So I pulled up the old deck exsposing stringers, besides water logged foam in stringers I noticed the roven holding stringers to hull are delaminating.I plan on cutting old roven off stringers . Now I am using polyester resin for this part of the project could anyone suggest if i should use roven to reglass stringers or 1 1/2 oz. mat and if I should refoam stringers. Thanks

Do not use mat - it is not as strong as other choices.  I would suggest a biaxial material like 1808 - which has a layer of mat stitched to it (to add adhesion between layers)

You say layers does that mean more than one layer to reglass stringers if I used the 1808 biaxil.

There's a thread somewhere here about how to post... you need to post the pics to the gallery first, then add them into your thread by adding the link to the picture in between these:  <img>

Just remove the "<>"

Anyway, yes, I would tab the stringers down with at least two layers of 1808... if not three.  Make sure you properly prepare the surfaces before glassing.
