Boat Parade lighting
« on: December 07, 2016, 03:44:41 PM »
Hey guys,

Mama signed us up for a Christmas boat parade this year so I need to dress up the 22-2 for the parade. I dont really want to do the generator and 110 V lighting so what about a DC to AC inverter and run LEDS or 12 V LED Christmas lights or old style Incandescent but would probably eat up batteries. What are my options?

A 150 LED strand only uses about 7W, so you'll be fine with a small DC/AC inverter.

So I am planning to be in a boat parade also, I connected three walmart led strands, 1-53', 2-20' to a 400W inverter and measured the current draw.  1.65A. That should not be an issue.  Picture attached. More to come next week!

1.65 x 110V = 181 Watts. so your halfway there.  I can tell you I ran WAY more lights than that on my boat for the parades.  Here is a pic of my boat last year:
