Got it thanks Capt. Bob

looks like your getting into it pretty good Marco. Is that autobody bondo that you are using in that patch job?

PS...The box forward of the console is unusual...from the PO, or did you add it?
Scotty, to me that appears to be a livewell out of a 25' Hydra Sport.

Well its more like fiberglass bondo but that was just put in to fill gap between the new plywood and the deck but it will be fiberglassed over and feathered into the deck.

A solid leaning post, reversed....and appears to be of Northeast/Great Lakes origin.

Looks good, nice fit :thumright:
The box upfront is a seat with a cooler in it filled with 4" of foam insulation. That thing will hold ice for days. We added that but never finished installing it. I am sorry that you had to have such a bad expeirience down here in marco island. its funny that you say that because the reason we are doing all the work on our boat is because the guy who was supposed to be working on it was always asking for money and he did nothing but steal gas out of our tank. And what do you mean by it appears to be from NorthEast/great lakes origin , are you talking about the hull, leaning post or the cooler seat?

You need to use some epoxy with a thicking agent. Like west system epoxy with some 407 mixed in. The autobody filler is not water proof like the epoxy is. You don't want to have to do it over again in a few months when the bondo swells up and gets saturated with water. that will suck. :(

X2. Any glass you apply will only have the bonding strength of whatever is under it. That gap oughta be beveled then taped together with glass. Then fairing compound on top. Epoxy is the best. Waterproof, doesnt shrink, and is much stronger.

The problem was the old sumbich had been a thief all his life, and saw an honest southern boy that took a man at his word as a ringer. I unfortunately bit it hook, line and sinker. I did get two nice Mercs from the deal, the rest was an asswhippin'. You can read the entire tearjerk on Classifieds, Caveat Emptor. It was like Christmas morning, then somebody steals your toys at gunpoint.

There was a company up in Penn. long ago that used to make box-style leaning posts like yours, but damn if I can remember their name. Nice product though.

This looks like a great project and I am looking forward to seeing how you come about with it.  I've got a 10 year old son who I was looking to get into his own project in the next year or two.

keep at it and keep the progress and pictures coming

She is in the Backyard

Our outdoor workshop

Center console half way prepped for gelcoat

From another angle

Had to cut down 4 shrubs and the fence just to get her in.

Guys i can see the peices coming together now. the console is fully prepped for gelcoat, deck is sanded, splashwell is prepped to be fiberglassed in we have all the lights, small hardware, the electronic box for t top is primed and is recieving first layer of paint tomorrow. we have decided to (hopefully soon) paint the outside hull alwgrip fighting lady yellow, and from rubrail to bottom of gunnels in awlgrip white we also cored the center console with 2x6's for t top reinforcement. plan for tommorrow is to fiberglass splashwell, and core the aft boxes for there new seats. the core for the seats will be 2 layers of 3/4 inch plywood. pictures tommorrow YAY!!
