^what rick said! The grinding will get muh much worse!

I'd just save the stringers. They don't look to bad at all, I wish I would've just saved mine. Would've saved a ton of time and money!

keeping the stringers it is! i am now thinking about removing the cap with casting deck intact in order to see what the forward part of the hull looks like. do i need to support the hull sides to prevent them from "folding" in or out? or would you guys just leave it since the hatches and fish box are solid?

not trying to dissuade you or be negative... but do some reading on here. there are dozens of rebuilds of every type of aquasport on here- from complete restore's back to original specs, to complete tear downs and reglassing to convert a 22 center console into a open decked mullet boat.

you should be able to find all the basic info for demo and hull construction with a 20-30 minute search of some rebuilds.

your hull is a 3 piece setup- so you will need to remove the cap, and then the liner, which, from experience, is a paint in the a$$ unless you cut the floor out first (from transom forward to the casting deck). you have your floor cut out already so that's a great starting point. now use a breaker bar to work your way around the liner/hull joint where they meet at the top. once that is separated, you can use some type of pulley system or forklift to lift the liner out.

hopefully you have some kind of cradle built and/or multiple supports along multiple points on your hull. as long as you have not done anything to your transom yet- you should be ok removing the liner and the hull not shifting too much.

Do I necessarily have to remove the liner?

  Looking at the pics, this is the later 2 piece hull (cap, "liner", floor, casting deck all the same piece).     Youve already go tthe floor out, so if you want a look at the front of the hull its either going to be cut the casting deck out, or take the whole cap/liner off. If it were me id cut the cap/liner down near the top on the inside to delete the "inner wall" and gain those inches back like a 3 piece design. Youre into it this far, might as well   :2Cents:

So just cutting out the inner "wall" pretty much? What about the casting deck?

well i just went ahead and started cutting! i think it turned out pretty good. ive started removing the transom wood. is there suppossed to be a ~ 1/2" piece of glass/resin glob that comes off the top of the transom all the way around? also the edges of my cap(where the rub rail attatches) is completely busted. i think im going to get rid the liner on both sides up to the front of the rod holders. and add in a divinycell gunwhale that runs from that to the transom kind of like florida196 did. anyway... planning to do lots of work this up coming week/weekend since i dont have classes! will keep you posted

As Dirt stated earlier, your "liner" is/was all one piece that included the floor (including casting deck), sides and cap.  The liner also came up and over the top of the transom.  That is the piece you're referring to.
If you're going to keep the stringers I would cut them off, gently, about 18" in front of the transom and set them aside to re-attach later. I would do the same with the side walls/cap.  You need that much room to work and rebuild the transom properly.
If you have access to a compressor and air chisel, that is a very easy way to remove the layers of transom after you cut it.
