1991 Custom 55 gallon fuel tank.

Note: All dimensions are identical to the original factory tank except overall length, resulting in a reduction of capacity from 100 gals. to 55gals.

Re: Sender......Digital or Analog?

Depends on your budget.  I'm a simple guy, always used analog float sender.  Super simple.  Super reliable.  Super cheap ($40).  Moehler dominates the market.  Amazon will be cheaper then a marine supply store.

We do know that the Factory tank is 33 gals.

You might try contacting  these people. They made tanks for the Genmar hulls and had the cut sheet on my original tank in my 91.

Good luck.

The coffin on my 1989 175 is 60 x 19.5 x 9.5.

The tank I just ordered was 59.6 x 19 x 7, from Phil at Alloy Metal Works in Long Island.

The capacity will be 35 gallons, right in line with the stock fuel tanks on these boats.  It is slightly larger than the 170s 1988 and earlier.

Hi All,  A little late but I did replace the tank on my 1985 196 model which I detailed in the re build section of this but the outside dimensions of the tank I removed (origional?) were 63" x 21" x 8" deep.  I too bought one from Phil at alloy metal and he gave me the best price and it was delivered in tact with no problems what so ever.  His plate was on the one I removed and despite looking dirty was in tact except where the steel reinforcing wire of the fill line had come in contact with the aluminum tank flange and corroded.  The fill hose itself DEFINATELY needed to be, and was, replaced as when I grabbed it to TRY and pull it out it broke.
