1976 22-2 rebuild
« on: November 19, 2006, 04:21:57 PM »
I've pulled the floor out  of my boat and when i did i noticed that I seem to have some rot running along the keel stringer. there are pieces of plywood that are glassed over on either side of the keel and they appear to be soft all the way forward.I've noticed that on many of the rebuilds there is no keel stringer the keel seems to be filled and glassed over. I was wondering if this would be acceptable for my boat. I  thought about filling with thickened epoxy and glassing over with  1708 biax and then adding a piece of half round pvc to sit the gas tank on.thanks in advance for any advice.

Im sorry no one saw this post earlier.

There was a center stringer.  It was not a full height, only a 2x4 glassed down over the keel.  I removed the 2x4, and glassed over the keel (filled it with foam first)

You can see it best in this picture....
