2003 EXPLORER 225 FISHBOX HATCH REPLACEMENT(s)
« on: July 24, 2019, 08:04:05 PM »
Hi All, I have been exhausting myself online looking for replacement hatches because one of mine has become soft. Before I go through grinding it down and re-glassing it I'd love to find solid replacements that I can just screw in and go. Much appreciated.

Welcome aboard!! Cutting the backing out of a hatch is pretty easy and then you pop the core out and replace it. Many examples of doing this in our rebuilds forums. If you need more help let us know.

Thank you for the reply. I have read those post and I am not beyond doing this, but up until next season starts I am leaving my "spreaders" out hoping to catch an original hatch or two to make my life just a little easier. :) If anyone catches wind of a rumor please share that with me no matter how weak the lead may seem. They are all weak at this time. :)

X2.  Explorer parts are hard to come by because most are still in service and on the water and also the fact they are not made anymore.  Marine Connection in Florida had a bunch of Aquasport parts from the Genmar era but I think they are pretty much cleaned out now.

Would not hurt to call I guess.

Thank you for this lead. I am all over it. Will be calling them later today. Hopefully they will also have my rare 3D Aquasport decals that recently got roached by a prop in the marina. I hate wind. Grrrrr. :)

I will say they did their job well protecting the hull so that was likely a thought by someone years ago to make them so thick. Thank for that. :)
