1996 200 osprey rebuild
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:54:48 PM »
since i decided to use a different console to fit better with the tower, i might as well do the deck and anything else i may come across while working on it...

so far today de-rigged the motor, pulled the rigging up through the console, disconnected the steering, pulled shift/throttle cables/binnacle, and as much as it killed me to destroy bobs work, it had to be done eventually, i was able to keep most of it in tact. in 3 hours the console is ready to pull. ill post pics later.

let the itchy begin! :cheers:

got the console completely pulled, all the wiring is pulled, all controls are pulled, all thats left is to pull the motor, jack plate, and jack plate pump.

tilted the console back to make it easy to pull the rigging out, kept most everything attached to the console, pulled out as complete unit

console and all rigging pulled out! only thing left is trim tab pump...

i screwed an old piece of plywood to the console and pushed all the rigging up in the console and carried out

Way to go Aaron! :thumleft:

If you had only known it was going come off so easy you could have attempted to pull the entire liner as one piece.

im probably gonna leave the stringers alone, i drilled a hole in either side and no water seeped out dry as a bone, and the tops of the stringers are sealed, no holes in them... i got most of the foam dug out of the port side, wouldnt be so bad if my shop vac didnt fill up every 2 minutes... rest of the work here on out i will do at my work inside the building.

gonna work on getting the rest of the foam out tomorrow,

heres pics from today, forgot to snap some after i dug out the foam on the port side...

used my engine hoist to do the "heavy" lifting, the bonding putty wasnt holding much, came right out...

deck out, foam next...

turns out the space under the deck i wanted to make more storage is part of the stringer grid

starboard stringer, broke off a piece of foam and drilled into it, water poured out...

port stringer, bone dry... its all coming out anyways...

how do you intend to replace the deck?

my 96' has a floated floor, i cant imagine getting enough strength across the floor by just reglassing the old floor back in place.
