88 175 Floor Repair
« on: March 25, 2016, 03:03:57 PM »
So maybe this is not the correct way, or the best way to repair a soft spot in a boat floor but i was not comfortable cutting the complete floor out.  My floor is solid, all except on the starboard side of my console.  I believe that over the years, the water has found its way into the cut in the floor, under the console that the wiring is fed through.  So I removed that section cleaned the gelcoat/fiberglass top form the rotten wood, replace the wood and reattached the top.  I added expanding foam under my new wood and I am very happy with my results.  For my first time working with fiberglass repairs I think it came out great and is very solid. Maybe someone else has a similar issue and this can help.

Yes, really nice job! My floor plus stringers were wet, I had to cut it all out.

Great job!  :nSalute:

Good job!

Interesting to note that one year after my 87 170 is when they did away with the rigging trough.

Nice job on the repair.

My 91' 175 has a soft spot in the exact same spot.
