1969 flatback rebuild question
« on: November 26, 2016, 12:56:41 PM »
I'm rebuilding my 69 flatback , had some question's about what material to use . i was looking into using nida core for the floor material, but also have a few friends pushing me into using coosa. just looking for some options/opinions boat will have a 3/4 tower and a 50 gallon live well, i know nida core doesn't have good screw retention so that was a concern and its cheap also....

Hi Riley, welcome aboard!  I would spend a little time looking through the flatback rebuilds forum (look under the Osprey Rebuilds) and you'll find a lot of info about using everything from wood to the composites, poly to epoxy.  Look for Capt Matt's rebuild (just to mention one) - he built a stout FB using coosa I think. There are many examples there but you need to spend the time studying.

i used nidacore on mine, with coosa inlaid where the tower thru bolts. i also have my tower thru bolted to the sides of the stringers with heavy aluminum angle

you can see the aluminum on the 4 corners around the fuel tank

I know your boat is balanced perfectly Aaron, but everytime I see that picture of your tower footplates- I cant help but think they are practically at the bow of the boat.
