1998 245 Osprey Rebuild (Pictures Attached)
« on: January 20, 2010, 12:58:51 PM »
I just want to take a minute and say Thank You to Bob Janzen and the guys at Sea Force yachts in Palmetto.  They build some fabulous yachts and also do repair work on the side during certain phases of the building process.  When I first stopped in I thought no way, this is going to be way out of my league price wise but to my surprise, it was within my range and the quality is second to none.  I'm talking all FOAM new floor, teak backing plates for t-top and lean post, highest quality epoxy, awlgrip paint, non-skid ... well just check out this website and see what they build.

http://www.seaforceix.com/

I mean you can see what they can do at the website above, so our boats are nothing for them.  This all came with a 1 year warranty on parts and labor.  I have seen the next to final stage of my boat but haven't seen the end because I want to be surprised Friday or early next week   .  He always e-mailed back within 2 days and kept to his timeline.

I'll post pictures (If I can or a link to my snapfish pics) when I get her back.  If you are thinking of doing a rebuild and want a liftime product, give Bob a call.

Not exactly sure but it was 1" thick, not nidcore or anything like that, it's whatever they use in those yachts.  I know they vacuum bagged it to the top skin so the resin completely soaked in.  Picking her up on Monday!

Oh yeah, got her back and all is well.  Floor is solid as a rock and now I have a 98% wood free boat.  Haven't had a chance to take her out with the wonderful weather  :x !  Anyway, I got some nice pictures and will try and post them soon.  Putting in a new Radio and speakers and doing a little more cleaning inside the console and upper electronic box this weekend!  Hopefully my Florida weather will return, because my cracker butt can't take much more.

Sea - No relation to Brian Buck sorry.  Is he from Florida?

Really bad.  345 Lbs of wet balsa they pulled out.  Amazing because there were not many holes in the floor, but someone cut an extra access hole above the gas tank and I think that was the culprit.  But then again I worked that into the purchase price and got a great deal I think!

wow  345 lbs?  I have the same problem with my 97 245 osprey. I am currently shopping the job. I'll need to do the complete floor, except for the raised area at the bow and the fish box area. Did they replace your fish box or leave it and work to it?

You need to give them a call. Good peeps and good work. They did it all and even foam backed all hatches and fish box lid.

WOW that's a lot,at least you worked it into the deal.I was just curious because of the year.

My 97 explorer is still solid, just hoping i don't have that to look forward to anytime soon.

A little hard to see but you can see where the floor is a little more light grey than the boat.  All Foam and now a lifetime boat.  Now cold weather go away!

I will take more pictures of the underside of the Sole to show the quality of work.  I opted not to go with the Fully taped off non-skid and just non-skid the entire floor and upper deck.  This saved me a lot of $$$$$!
