Repowering weight distribution question
« on: February 13, 2018, 07:45:07 PM »
Hello All,

Going to be repowering my 225 Explorer from a (96)225hp Ocean Pro to a (05)250hp ETEC here in the next week or so. The ETEC is about 70lbs heavier than the Ocean Pro. I have read where a few people compensated for the weight by adding more weight on the front end of the boat. Not much of a question but is it just a matter of adding 70lbs in the cabin. Is there anything else maybe to take into consideration? Thanks again.

launch your boat as it is and while it's floating put 70lbs worth of sand bags on top of the cowling and see how it sits in the water.  Walk to the aft and see if it starts letting water in through the scuppers.

Thanks Rick . Water getting in through the scuppers is what I was worried about with the additional weight.
