Reconfigure- 24ft
« on: July 11, 2017, 01:11:23 PM »
I've been looking for an aquasport all over and came across one recently which is a 24 ft. cuddy. It looks like the hull itself is the same as a center console 24', but with the cap being the cuddy. Is re-configuring it from a side to center console and removal of the cuddy something feasible being the hulls appear to be the same?

Thanks for the help.

It would be a big undertaking, but doable.  You would need to reengineer the forward cap cutting out the cuddy and rebuild a coaming.  You're also removing the liner, so you would need to add stiffness back to the hull.

There's a rebuild of a Kencraft 215 Walkaround to a CC on The Hull Truth, but I think the Photobucket issue has messed up the pictures.  You also may want to check out my 200 CCP rebuild.  It's not a cuddy, but I removed the liner to go with a cap & hull construction.  You can see some of the work that I'm doing to replace the stiffness lost when the liner is removed.

To be honest, I have not done fiberglass work myself. If there is some cutting I can do to help decrease the labor for a fiberglass guy to do, I will. With that, does anyone know of a reputable fiberglass guy in the Houston area who has done work on aquasports or similar types of work?

To be honest, I think that would be a huge undertaking. It may be more than what you want to take on.

On another note: I know of another 24 that is available in Baytown that would be an easier conversion. Here is the link to the ad: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1696914097270888
