Pros / Cons 20" Shaft motor on a 222 FB

Just researching the topic and wondering if there are any pros/cons to putting a 20" shaft motor on a flatback with a portabracket.

Cannot think of any pros. The one glaring con is that your powerhead is five inches closer to the water.  With the motor on the bracket, when coming off plane, water will have the opportunity to enter the cowling.

I agree with Blue on this.  There is no advantage of a 20” shaft on a sea boat.  The shorter shaft puts the powerhead and exhaust passages closer to the water.  There’s even a potential of powehead failure if you suck water I to the exhaust relief.
