Title: 2002 19' osprey
Post by: Oldewareham on March 07, 2019, 11:48:37 AM
I'm not familiar with how the transom was built on this model.
I am guessing it was some kind of mold poured.
Can anyone add to this?
How much plywood in a 2002?
Anything to keep an eye on?
Thanks

As far as the foam goes. How has the foam  used changed over the years.
Are the newer hulls less susceptible to water intrusion?

The foam used in the beginning was pretty porous. I pulled original foam from my 170 that was bone dry and also some that was wet.  The 2-part foam used today is much more water resistant. Is it water proof ? - dunno and hope to not find out.

Looking at the diagram above. IS The flotation foam sealed?
The sringer system looks to be wrapped in glass.
I have seen older glass over foam..but not from 90's or 2000's....

I would say no. The pockets parallel to the stringers is filled with foam and the deck covers it but actually coated with resin and glass??????? :ScrChin:

The foam floatation used on those hulls is a much higher density than the stuff used in the early Hialeah hulls and it was not sealed also.

The stringers are all glass and then foam filled.
