Setting up trailer for 246 XF with out motor on it.

(1/1)

leamichael57:
I recently got a used 2006 ACE aluminum tandem 25-26ft trailer for my 1981 246 XF. The trailer i got the boat with is 22-24 in length and is galvanized or should i say mostly rust. i am going to support the back and put a strap to support the front, hoist it up a little and remove the old trailer. i dont have the outboard yet. what im looking for is tips on how to set up the new trailer (which had a little more of a flat bottom boat on it) and any considerations since there is not the weight of the motor yet. it will likely be hauled without motor (i hope only once to have it installed).

can it be set back a little until motor is added later for proper hitch weight?
where is the best location for the boards for this model for the best support?
any tips?

You want the bunks under the stringers. And they should extend a few inches past the transom or at least even with it.  If the end fwd of the transom the weight of the transom will make the hull sag and warp causing a hook in the hull (bad)
