Minn Kota Trim and Troll
« on: January 10, 2016, 03:23:11 PM »
Purchase a boat last summer with the now obsolete Minn Kota Trim and Troll system. Great idea, horrible product. Minn Kota no longer supports or produces parts.

Looking for Auxillary is 2994057 (minn kota AUX TCD ASSEMBLY) for trim tab control up top. The switch is bad. Had to replace the lower switch too, that part is pretty easy to find but the top switch is a different part and they are not interchangeable.

Also, have yet to get the trolling motors to turn. I've replaced the control box (black box) and the remote control. There is a beep indicating the remote has been recognized and the motors have power but will not turn blades.

Anyone have experience with this system or have the system and it works? Also, if someone has the auxillary switch laying around, I'l love to make a deal.

Wow - what electrical is going to the combo?  Can you figure out what is going to the tab and what is going to the trolling motor?  I wouldn't think that there is much going there, maybe a pair of wires each and somewhere else are some relays to reverse the polarity on the motors of each.
Should be easy to troubleshoot but you have take it a little at a time - make sure the tabs work by bypassing the relays and do the same for the trolling motors.  If they work bypassed then it's time to focus on the controls.
You can make any controls work for your system once you understand it - it's just controlling relays - so you can replace the uppers with a generic one.

Great advice Rick and much appreciated. I'm still working through them and while not my strong suit, your advice is helpful.

@Aswaff400, very interested to talk with your friend, I'd like to secure parts to keep the system running long term once I get it operational...

Can you PM me with contact information or you can email me at wthoward19@gmail.com

By the way, the tabs work, just not the motors... I'd love to have another motor to test motor failure. Seems unlikely that both would fail.
