Battery talk.

Rigging my boat and wanting to get battery trays.   So my question is what is everyone running group 27 or 31.  Right now looking for two trays house battery and motor keeping the two seperate but on one switch.

I just picked up a 27 for the starting battery.  I'll run two 31s for the trolling motor.

Sounds good.  I'd like to stick to the 27 as I believe they are smaller than the 31.  Can you tell me the difference or is it just that a size difference that equals more or less cranking amps

Yes the difference is the group 31 batteries are bigger. I run two group 24 batteries in my boat and have never had a problem.  The first pair of Deka AGM batteries I had in the boat lasted me 7 & 9 years. I'm on my second set now, two years and no issues. The follow chart gives some good information.
